Common Name: Thornless Cockspur Hawthorn
Scientific Name: Crataegus crusgalli var. inermis
Family: Rosacace

Height: 15 to 18 feet
Width: 20 to 25 feet

Form and Size: A short squat tree with dense horizontal branching that is available as single or multi stem tree.
Growth Rate: Once the tree is established is will grow 12 to 18 inches a season

Landscape Value: The Cockspur Hawthorn is a drought resistant landscape plant. The glossy foliage unique growth habit, spring flowers and fall fruit make it an excellent accent to the landscape. It grows best in drained soils but will tolerate clay soils. They grow well in park and home settings as well in planters.

Flowers: Clusters of simple creamy white flowers that form in late spring. The flowers have an unpleasant odor.

Fruit: Small red berry that persists into the fall and early winter.

Foliage: Dark green glossy leaf

Bark: Brown

Insect and Disease Problems: No major insect problems and resistance to rust diseases.
